Situated in central Zhejiang Province, Yiwu covers an area of 1,105 square kilometers, with 724 thousand local registered population and more zhan 1.2 million migrant workers and business people. Since reform and opening up, Yiwu has adhered to the development strategy of “revitalizing the city through commerce and trade,” and charted a unique course of scientific development. It was listed as one of the 18 model regions for reform and opening up. As a result, Zhejiang Province Committee of the CPC called for the” Yiwu’s development experience” to be spread over the whole province. Based on the market advantages, Yiwu exhibitions economy witnessed fast growth, and Yiwu was recognized as the Most Promising Exhibition City in China. In 2008,annual production value of Yiwu cultural Industry reached 100 billion yuan, with 20 billion yuan for key cultural products. Up to date, there are altogether 10,000-odd cultural products manufacturers and distribution agents with over 300,000 employees, forming a special industry cluster with six dominant products including printing & packing, stationery & sports, frames, New Year’s painting & wall calendar, pen making, and recreation.
Started from 2004 and upgraded in 2006,China Yiwu Stationery & Arts Trade Fair is the only foreign-oriented exhibition of domestic cultural industry, with “the trading of cultural products and the development of cultural innovation” as its theme. It was honored as the most influential fair in Cultural Industry in 2008.
